Last updated: 7 November 2026

1. Who we are

This privacy policy explains how Cafe Roj (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses personal information when you use our website, caferoj.co.uk, or contact us. Cafe Roj is the data controller for this information.

Address: 6 Chapel Street, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV21 3EB
Telephone: 01788 551787

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, please call us or write to us at the address above.

2. The information we collect

  • Information you give us. If you phone us or speak to us in the cafe, we will use the details you choose to give us (for example your name, phone number and order details) only to deal with your request or order.
  • Technical information. Like almost every website, our web server automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. Our hosting provider keeps these logs for a short period for security and to keep the website running.

We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and our website does not take online payments.

3. Why we use your information and our legal basis

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) we must have a lawful basis for using personal information:

  • Dealing with your order or enquiry: to take steps you have asked for, or to perform a contract with you.
  • Running and securing the website: our legitimate interest in providing a safe, working website.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies it sets are strictly necessary ones, used when the site owner logs in to manage the website.

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
wordpress_*, wordpress_logged_in_* This website Only set if you log in to manage the website (staff only). End of session / up to 14 days
wp-settings-* This website Remembers admin screen preferences (staff only). 1 year

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies only affects staff logging in; it will not stop you using the website.

5. Third-party services used by our website

Some features of our website are provided by other companies, who may receive your IP address and basic technical information when the feature loads:

  • IONOS (1&1 IONOS Ltd) – hosts our website and its server logs.
  • Google Fonts – supplies the typefaces used on our website.
  • Google Maps – the map on our location page is provided by Google. Google may set its own cookies if you interact with the map; see Google’s privacy policy.

Our website may link to our social media pages (for example Facebook or Instagram). Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you leave our website.

6. How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as we need it. Details given to us for an order or enquiry are kept only as long as needed to deal with it, unless we must keep them longer by law (for example accounting records). Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To make a request, contact us using the details in section 1. We will respond within one month and there is normally no charge.

8. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
